On 3^rd October, DGT laid the ITI foundation for Divyangjans, which is going to be built for especially abled persons. On 12^th October, another good news arrived, that the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, approved the Skills Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) Scheme- which is a 2,200 crores central sector project for vocational training, half of the project outlay is from World Bank assistance.

Apart from all these, a Regional Competition was also conducted in All India Trade.

In mid-October, India signed a memorandum of cooperation on Technical Intern Training Programme (TITP) with Japan. The MoC on TITP paves the way for sending Indian technical interns to Japan, for on-the-job training, for a period of three to five years.

An implementation support mission was conducted by World Bank on 23-26 of October to review the existing Vocational Training Improvement Project (VTIP). The status of the ongoing VTIP project was discussed in detail and plans were paved for the newly approved STRIVE scheme.

On 8^th November, a meeting of sub-committee of NCVT dealing with affiliations was held recently, which was attended by the members of sub-committee of NCVT, various State Directorates and DGT representatives. The few issues that were discussed are:

• 225 proposals were placed before the sub-committee for considering for grant of affiliation of ITIs.
• A proposal of guidelines for de-affiliation of ITIs was discussed.

The Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) hosted the National Entrepreneurship Awards 2017 on 9^th November on occasion of their third anniversary.

Another MoU was signed on 24^th November between Directorate of Training and Technical Education (DTTE) and Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), to implement Dual System of Training between Industrial Training Institute, Pusa and MSIL in the Fitter and Machinist trades. As per the agreement, the DST will impart practical training in the industries and theoretical training in ITIs. It will also provide better experience for students on updated technology available in the industry.

A consultative meeting with State Government was organized by DGT to deliberate on the present system of examinations conducted in ITIs.

As part of the promotions of National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), a workshop was organized by UK’s Department for International Development (DFID). The workshop was attended by a host of CEOs, founders, HR heads and senior managers, from more than 50 leading organizations across automobile, oil and gas, infrastructure, pharma and IT sectors. Representatives from companies like L&T, Kobelco Machinery, MRF, Apollo Tyres, Kothari Petrochemicals, TVS Electronics, and Ashok Leyland among many others attended the workshop.
