Now is the best time to offer upskilling courses

2020 saw a significant shift in the way people were spending their time. For instance, Coursera, an online course provider, witnessed 10.3 million enrolments in 30 days and more than 5 million new user registrations during the COVID -19 lockdown due. 

As many people have chosen to invest time and money in learning online, it has created a huge scope for educators to offer relevant, timely upskilling and reskilling courses. While economies will take time to recover from the pandemic, hiring is certainly back on companies’ agenda. 

A major shift in recruitment we’re seeing is recruiters looking for candidates with a degree and the right skills set. The skills they’ll look for after the pandemic will change. Now, recruiters will keep an eye out for technically qualified candidates who practically match the job requirements.

ManPowerGroup ‘India Employment Outlook Survey’ revealed that employment trends across the country are expected to rise in the first three months of 2021. Tier 2 and 3 cities will be white-collar job market hotspots.

There is also a huge demand for skilled technical workers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics released a list of the jobs expected to grow at a faster during 2021:

  • Registered nurses
  • Construction managers
  • Financial managers
  • Industrial machinery mechanics
  • Electricians
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Elementary school teachers
