Is an Educational Certificate proof of an individual’s talent or skills?

Certificates may not define a person’s abilities. They show that a person has graduated from a course or has passed a test. But, can they do more? Read on.

Certificates show employers and peers that you are qualified for the job. It adds weight to your CV and helps in advancing your career and maybe even getting a salary hike.

Educational certificate = Stamp of excellence

Regardless of the industry, one is working for; certificates help determine whether they have achieved the highest standards of education and credentialing in their area of work. Apart from that, certificates demonstrate that an individual is committed to their profession.  This helps the employer gauge their abilities and value to the company.

Advances in technology are changing teaching practices and learning environments. And, the certificate issuance process is no exception.

Traditional paper certificates – A thing of the past?

You may have received a certificate from your school, online course or college you studied at. And so far, a paper certificate has been the traditional form of recognising talent. It does have its benefits. They are tangible, you can frame them on your office wall for others to look at and praise your accomplishments. But does it achieve anything more than that?

Young adults or modern professionals do not meet people in their office. They are online. Networking also happens online. And, the people they network with would not be able to see the certificate hung on their wall. Moreover, paper certificates can be easily duplicated or faked. This is where digital certificates add an advantage over paper certificates.

The certification process can be improved by utilising blockchain technology. It will not only secure data but will bring transparency and traceability.

Is an Educational Certificate proof of an individual's talent or skillsDigital certificates – A smart step forward

Replacing traditional paper certificates are blockchain-based digital certificates. These digital certificates are online and are directly emailed to the graduates. It is highly secure as they can only be issued by an educational institute or a certification authority. Also, anyone who has access to the certificates can verify them from anywhere. As individuals cannot fake it, employers or potential recruiters can trust them.

Another advantage of a digital certificate is that candidates can stop talking about their skills in abstract terms. They have the proof of their eligibility at their fingertips and can produce it when needed. Sure, digital certificates do not carry the same sentimental value as a paper certificate but it is more effective in the modern world.

What’s more? Individuals do not have to spend hours filling in their skills on online platforms. Uploading a digital certificate is simple and hassle-free. And, if a certificate is valid for a specific amount of time, individuals can renew it easily, unlike the paper counterpart.

Blockchain-based digital certificates are safer

What happens when one loses their paper certificate? They have to file a FIR and go through a long and cumbersome process to get another copy.

Blockchain-based digital certificates have a solution to this problem. Once issued, they remain in the system. A blockchain certificate creates an unchangeable link between the issuing body and the candidate’s accomplishment. The issuing body has complete control over who receives it and when to issue or revoke it. On the other hand, individuals can store, share, request for a reissue as and when required.

Apart from the regular details, digital certificates can also showcase an individual’s skills. As the candidate receiving the certificate cannot change the details, it ensures trust.

Make your skills verifiable with Certif-ID

Blockchain-based digital certificates are great to prove one’s credibility. It showcases the candidates’ skills and highlights the resume.

Now, what is Certif-ID?
