TASK and HYSEA Partnership successfully concludes iMake (Maker Space) program

The valedictory event of the iMake (Maker Space) program, delivered as part of the TASK-HYSEA ongoing partnership, was held on 28th Feb, 2018 at the TASK Office. The students from TASK Registered Engineering Colleges received internships and placement opportunities from corporates that include: Envista, Shodh Innovations, Aadhan Media, H-Bot Robotics, C3I, Motivity Labs and Zen Q, based on an exclusive placement drive conducted for the Maker Space Colleges.

TASK iMake skills program1In the academic year, 2017-18, Maker Spaces were set up at 12 TASK Registered Engineering Colleges in Khammam, Medchal and Rangareddy Districts, and 450 Engineering Students had enrolled for the program from the Registered Engineering Colleges.

The colleges were assisted to set up a Maker Space in their campus. Students who registered for the program were put through three key learning stages, and then towards the end, they created simple technology products for problem areas around them.

  • Stage 1 – Exploration – Ideathon
  • Stage 2- Learning – Technology Workshop on IOT/Android
  • Stage 3 – Building – Hackathon

How the program was implemented:

  • Industry Mentors were assigned to help the college faculty and students at periodic intervals for coaching the teams on building/refining their products/prototypes before a Central Hackathon. 285 of these Maker Space students were shortlisted for the placement drives in Dec 2017.
  • These students went through various screening processes and 65 of them made it for interviews with various corporates.
  • As on date 16, students have received internships/offer letters from the above companies.

TASK iMake skills programSpeaking on the occasion Mr. Sujiv Nair – CEO TASK shared that “Students love learning though experimentation and this program helps build that experience capital which will stay with them for most part of their life.”

Echoing the thought Mr. Ranga Pothula – President HYSEA shared that the TASK-HYSEA partnership has enabled students imbibe innovative thinking which ultimately leads to enhancing their success rate in seeking employment. HYSEA has been able to provide exclusive placement drives for Maker Space enrolled students this year.

This program has received positive feedback from students as well as College Coordinators, and the plan going forward is to enhance the reach to more rural districts/students in Telangana in 2018-19.
