in Industry, News

A training programme titled “Man Friday” was launched by  Shri. Rajnikant Mishra, IPS, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) along with Sh. Vishal Sharma, Chief Programme Officer NSDC, Sh. Amod K. Kanth, Chairman DWSSC and Maj Gen. (Retd) Manik Sabharwal, CEO DWSSC through video conferencing with six field locations of SSB from the SSB Force Headquarters in New Delhi.

The concept of “Man Friday Training Programme” and its purpose was explained by IG (Ops) SSB, Shri Chanchal Shekhar following which DG SSB along with dignitaries from NSDC, DWSSC and industry partners interacted with trainees who attended the video conferencing session from 06 field locations of SSB, namely, Almora (Uttrakhand), Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), Muzaffarpur(Bihar), Falakata(West Bengal), Bongaigaon(Assam) and Tezpur(Guwahati). The idea of Man Friday Training programme was originally conceived by DG SBB and initiated by IG SSB, Sh. Chanchal Shekhar, as a specially designed Employment Generation Programme by SSB in collaboration with NSDC to train rural youth in the border areas as a “Domestic Help” having multiple skills that are helpful in assisting a family or senior citizen.

SSB DWSSC Man FridayIn the first phase of training, skills for House keeper cum cook will be imparted to trainees at all the 08 project locations i.e. Pithoragarh, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarpur, Falakata, Bongaigaon, Tezpur, Bhilai and Ranchi. This 440 Hours (approx 55 days) of training of 30 trainees per location will be conducted by training partners selected by DWSSC (Domestic Workers Sector Skill Council). The approval of this course was given by 22nd Executive Council of Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna.

Since the average minimum package for House Keeper cum Cook is Rs. 12,000/- + Lodging & Boarding  and due to high demand of ‘House keeper cum cook’ in Indian Job market this training will be prove to be beneficial for rural youth living along border areas to get a respectable employment. For this training programme expenses of boarding and lodging will be borne by SSB while the training expenses will be borne by NSDC.

A MoU was signed between, SSB and NSDC for execution of Skill Development Programme on 10th of March 2017. Through this MoU unemployed and uneducated school dropouts will get an opportunity to adopt a course of their choice which will enable them to earn their livelihood and plan their future as full time workers in the organised sector.
