Skills and Jobs: Healthcare Industry

In FY17, Indian healthcare sector stood as the 4th largest employer as the sector employed a total of 3,19,780 people. Healthcare has become one of India’s largest sectors both in terms of revenue and employment. Healthcare comprises hospitals, medical devices, clinical trials, outsourcing, telemedicine, medical tourism, health insurance and medical equipment. The key objective of the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) is to create a robust and vibrant ecosystem for quality education and skill development in paramedics and allied healthcare space in the country.

Job Roles: There are 38 Qualification Packs in HSSC (under Service providers, Network Management & Passive Infrastructure) which are validated and approved. Few of those QPs are given below:

Anaesthesia Technician: Provide support to licensed anaesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anaesthesia. This job requires individuals to be capable of a level of selfdirection and supervision which is commensurate with their training.

Educational Qualification: Class XII in Science.

Minimum Job entry age: 18 years.                NSQF Level: Level 4.

Payroll: The average basic salary of 15,000(per month) is paid for an Anaesthesia Technician, based on person’s experience he/she can earn more.

Assistant Physiotherapist: Assistant Physiotherapist work alongside qualified physiotherapists, assisting in the rehabilitation of patients suffering from reduced mobility. Assistant Physiotherapist are required to be calm and patient. They should have an interest in health and physical education and carry a positive and motivating attitude. It is also important to have a good level of physical fitness and the ability to work well in a team.

Educational Qualification: Assistant Physiotherapist.

Minimum Job entry age: 18 years.                NSQF Level: Level 4.

Payroll: The average basic salary is starts from 10000. based on person’s experience he/she can earn more.

Cardiac Care Technician (CCT): Individuals in this job role assist in performing invasive and non-invasive diagnostic examinations and therapeutic interventions of the heart and/or blood vessels at the request or direction of provider.

Educational Qualification: Class XII in Science or Level 3 ECG Technician with Experience of minimum 3 Years.

Minimum Job entry age: 18 years.                NSQF Level: Level 4.

Payroll: The average basic salary of a Cardiac Care Technician (CCT) is 15000 and based on person’s experience he/she can earn more.

Dialysis Technician: Operate machines and perform dialysis on patients with acute or chronic kidney failure. They are responsible for the operation, cleaning, and sterilisation of the dialysis machines.

Educational Qualification: Class XII.

Minimum Job entry age: 18 years.                NSQF Level: Level 4.

Payroll: The average basic salary of a dialysis technician is 16,000. If you have experience in this field, you can earn more.

Radiology Technician: Radiology Technicians perform diagnostic imaging examinations such as X-rays, CT and MRI scans under the guidance of a Radiologist. Radiology Technicians are responsible for preparing patients and operating equipment for the test/tests, besides keeping patient records, adjusting equipment’s based on patient need and test recommended and maintaining equipment.

Educational Qualification: Class XII in Science or Level 3 X-ray Technician with 3 years of experience in the field.

Minimum Job entry age: 18 years.                NSQF Level: Level 4.

Payroll: The average salary for a radiology technician is 15,000 per month. If you have experience in this field, you can earn more.
