The importance of learning the right skills for the right career

In this story let’s know more about Sandhya Balan, a Commerce student, who has already charted out how her college studies should help her in realizing her career dreams.

According to Sandhya, a student of St. Mary’s College, Hyderabad, career is something which brings financial security for one’s self and family. She says, “My dream career is to become a CEO of a corporate company and this has been my dream for the past 4 years being the only reason I chose Commerce as my education major.”
She believes that a person who has vast knowledge but doesn’t have proper skills might not do very well in life. She thinks things might work out initially, but in the long run, the demands from a work industry might crumble a non-skilled person. Hence priority must be given to both knowledge and skills as they go hand in hand and skills definitely play the part of survival in the present and in the future to come.

Citing her own example, stage fear is something she has personally tackled. She remembers, “Since my childhood, I have had tremendous stage fear but have overcome that by voluntary participation in group discussions and many other internship interviews.” She thinks her school and college played an important role in helping her gain various life skills like communication and team skills.

Sandhya strongly feels team work definitely teaches an individual much more than any single handed work could possibly teaches there is a constant exchange of different opinions, ideologies, technical knowledge and much more.
