Third India Skills Regional Competition in Bengaluru

The third India Skills Regional Competition Organised by the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship began in Bengaluru. It was inaugurated by the WorldSkills Silver Medalist. It has about 300 candidates from 14 states participating in 36 skills, which include aircraft maintenance, floristry, mobile robotics, fashion technology, welding, graphic design, web designing, cooking, jewellery and beauty therapy among others. The winners from the three-day event will go to nationals to compete with winners from other regional contests and earn a chance to represent India at World Skills 2019 at Kazan in Russia.

Government planning to launch National Portal with skilling data

The government is collating the increase in the number of skilled youth in the country since the launch of the Skill India programme to tally jobs.  This move for creating a Skilling Data Portal was triggered following the monthly review meeting conducted by the cabinet secretary on the number of skilled personnel, bringing all central ministries on board to converge their skilling programmes.

ITI admission details available on mobile phone in Maharashtra

The Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET) launched the Maha ITI Application, which is an android mobile application, for the candidates looking for admissions in ITIs.`The app currently provides various services related to ITI admission . Registered candidates can access their admission status, submit option form, search ITIs, check merit number, allocation, download application form, allotment letter and admission confirmation slip.

MoU between Haryana Govt and Maruti Suzuki to give push to skill mission

In order to give a thrust to the skill development mission, Haryana Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Maruti Suzuki India for dual system of training for government industrial training institutes (ITI) at Rohtak and Gurugram. Speaking on the occasion, Skill Development and Industrial Training Minister said that Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University will introduce Doctoral Degrees in Skills to provide further vertical mobility in certain areas of skill sets in addition to providing Post Graduate diploma in skill or vocational, Post Graduate Degree-Master of Skills or Master Vocation.

2,000 candidates will undergo skill training at Kia Motors

Kia Motors, along with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation, has selected 2,000 candidates for a skill training workshop. The purpose of this basic technical skill development course is to enhance the skills of diploma holders and to make them job ready in the automobile industry. Eligible candidates who successfully complete this course, will be better prepared and become eligible to apply for interview for jobs in Kia Motors India Private Limited and its suppliers at the entry level shop floor workman category in Kia Motors car manufacturing facility.

Good response for Udaan scheme in Jammy & Kashmir 

The Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship stated that the Udaan Scheme for skill training to the educated unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir has got very good response. This is being implemented in collaboration with the state administration. National Skill Development Corporation, aims at covering about 40,000 people over five years through Udaan.
