Skill India Journey – Year in Review 2016

MoU and partnerships

United Arab Emirates (UAE): MoU and LoI signed between MSDE and United Arab Emirates (UAE)for cooperation in Skill development and recognition of qualifications. MoU will also facilitate workforce mobility, skill development and placement of youth in overseas jobs in UAE.

Singapore: MoU signed between Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Education Services (ITEES) and NSDC on collaboration in technical and vocational education and training.

Qatar: MoU signed between India and Qatar for cooperation in skill development and Recognition of qualifications. MoU will facilitate workforce mobility, skill development and placement of youth in overseas jobs in Qatar.

Switzerland: MoU signed between India and the Swiss Confederation for cooperation in skill development. As per the MoU, India and the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation of the Swiss Confederation will collaborate in skill development.

Germany: India and Germany join hands on skill agenda. The project will run for three years starting August 2016 with a budget of EUR 3,000,000 (22.6 Crores INR)

Australia: NSDC and TAFE Directors, Australia sign an MoU to strengthen cooperation and contribute to the development of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in India.

France: MoU signed with France for cooperation in skill development, vocational education and
training in India.

MoU between MSDE, NSDC and Wadhwani Foundation: Wadhwani Foundation commits USD 30 – 40 million to support skill development and entrepreneurship initiatives. This is subjected to a maximum 10% GOI spending on mutually agreed schemes for a period of 3 years

MoU between MSDE and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to boost to skill initiatives in the Hydrocarbon Sector.

Sector Skill Councils

Formation of Sector Skill Council for Domestic Workers (DWSSC): DWSSC would certify 25,56,600 candidates, train & certify 1,050 trainers and create standards for 15 Job Roles for domestic workers.
