  • The National Skill Qualification framework will be aligned with dynamic industry needs
  • Digital University with universal education will be established
  • A new portal encouraging a digital ecosystem for skilling and livelihood, DESH-stack e-portal will be launched
  • One Class One TV” channel programme expanded from 12 to 200 TV channels
  • 750 virtual labs in science and mathematics and 75 skilling e-labs for simulated learning environment

Skill development news from the government

  • The government of New Delhi has suggested creating a skilling programme in the electronics industry with the support of DPIIT as it agreed to allocate funds for the initiative.
  • To broaden the electronics industry in India, The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has released a five-year roadmap and vision document for the electronics sector titled “USD 300 bn Sustainable Electronics Manufacturing and Exports by 2026.”

Skill development news from the industry and CSR

  • To increase the human resource capacity for the healthcare systems, Apollo MedSkills is aiming to skill and upskill over 50000 healthcare workforce in India for COVID-19 response. Read more…
  • National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is offering 103 skill courses to secondary and senior secondary students, especially to differently-abled students. Courses like Cookery, Horticulture, Agriculture is taught and also validate with the courses of ITI students.
  • As small and medium businesses are the backbone of the country’s economy, Microsoft India has launched a skilling initiative to help SMBs to improve their skill-building resources.
  • The India Skill Summit is planning to host a virtual event on February 06 2022, to bring together skill sector leaders and key stakeholders from industry and government to discuss the issues that are impacting the skills development sector.
  • NSN Weekly round-up- 02022022India’s renewable energy sector could employ around one million people by 2030 and has the potential to provide jobs that would be generated by small-scale renewable energy.
  • Intending to set up new baking-related vocational training courses in India, Food Industry Capacity and Skill Initiative (FICSI) has signed an MoU with the Indo German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) to establish CoE for training students in dual bakery training according to the German Dual System.
  • To provide students with an opportunity to join the three years Degree Programme of IGNOU, IGNOU and MSDE inaugurated the IGNOU-MSDE Extension Centers of 32 National Skill Training Institutes across the country.
  • Focusing on the skill development of target institutes, students and industry, NMICPS and TiHAN, IIT Hyderabad have agreed with the industry to ensure the availability of UGV and UAV kits.
