IBM has segregated the freshers into the following three categories — early professionals or freshers who have up to three years of work experience; absolute freshers from campus, and ‘new collars’ who are non-traditional, non-engineering graduates who can be science or commerce graduates or from Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).

Rs 12000 crore to boost state mining area growth in Odisha

The Orissa State Government has more than Rs12,000 crore funds available for development of the minerals-bearing areas This will give a major boost for the livelihood sector in these areas of the State. Since there is vast scope for development in the livelihood sector. The state has decided to set up an Odisha Mineral Bearing Area Livelihood Mission so that major livelihood projects would be undertaken and monitored in the minerals-bearing areas of the State. As per a latest report, the State Government public account has received a total of Rs12,845 crore compensation money from the mining leases so far.

Government to start regulating skills training

The government is planning to set up an independent regulator for skills training in the country. This move was made because the skill development and entrepreneurship ministry has failed in its efforts to improve the quality of skills imparted by various bodies and institutions.  The skill development and entrepreneurship ministry will only act as the administrative ministry for the regulator.

About 12 million youth enter the country’s workforce every year but a large chunk of them are unemployable because of poor skill sets. Hence the government is renewing its focus on improving skills training.
