Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam Skill Conclave 2016 – A Report

Unveiling of the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Policy

hpkvn-skill-conclave-1The chief secretary unveiled the Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Policy -“HIM KAUSHAL– 2016”. It was emphasized that, government of Himachal Pradesh is steadfastly introducing a mechanism to institutionalize the efforts of Skill Development in the State and therefore has decided to formulate a Skill Development Policy to provide a direction to its efforts. The policy highlights about the various vocational training initiatives by various departments such as, Technical Education, Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Rural Development, Urban Development, Hospitality and Tourism, Industries and training organized by other Departments of the State. Signing of MoUs

hpkvn-skill-conclave-4The state government signed Memorandum of Understanding with Usha International, Reliance Trends, Institute of Professional Banking (A unit of Success Step Pvt. Ltd), Jawed Habib Hair & Beauty Limited, HRTC and Auto Skill Council. The objective of the all the MoUs were –

  • To provide entrepreneurship through skilling.
  • Alignment of Training Programme to Industry Standards
  • Collaboration for internship/On-the Job training.
  • Development of standards for trainers & assessors.
  • Placement after training subject to the satisfaction.

Next Step: Both the parties will complete a draft action plan within 15 days of this MOU and dates which will be agreed. This MOU shall commence on 14th December 2016 and remain in place for a period of three years expiring on 14th December 2019.

Address by Worthy Chief Secretary

Worthy Chief Secretary lighted the lamp and opened the Skill Conclave. While addressing in the Skill Conclave, Chief Secretary VC Pharka said that HPKVN will train and empower all unemployed, unskilled, semi-skilled persons, keeping in view long term requirement of industry in the state and the nation. He mentioned that quality in skill training being imparted to youth will ensure better employability in industry, commerce and corporate sectors. He also said that active involvement of industry has been ensured in all skill development projects with the purpose that industry also found right candidates as per their requirement.
