Dive deep into the adventure of underwater welding

in Industry

The deep underwater world of our planet can be as alien as outer space. Bridges, oil platforms, and other structures reach into and over these areas requiring skilled workers to build and maintain them. Commercial divers provide support and maintenance to a variety of sites from nuclear power plants to wastewater treatment facilities. Some of these dive environments require hazmat suits for safety.

Above the surface, welding, cutting, and assembling these structures requires only the training and skill to do the job. Performing those same jobs underwater requires an entirely new set of skills, understanding, and equipment. We are talking about the world of commercial diving and more specifically underwater welding.

Youth in India do not want to become a regular electrician or a welder. They aspire to learn the latest and emerging technologies like 3D printing, drone technology, robot operation, underwater welding, machine learning, artificial intelligence, etc. These skills might not have an immediate advantage or career opportunities right now, but they sure are going to be the most in-demand skills in the future. Underwater welding is one such technology and career option.

With more and more youth wanting to do meaningful work, have some time for themselves, to gain experiences, and at the same time solving real problems, an underwater welding career could be one such exciting career option.

It could be either because of challenges from the environment, tools, or the welding process itself. Thanks to the latest tools and technology by Fronius, which are high-quality products that are designed keeping the sustainability aspect in mind. Underwater welding is also one of the most highly paid jobs around the world and there is a huge demand for highly-skilled workers. A taste for adventure might lead someone to become a welder-diver or an underwater welder, but patience and tenacity will help them succeed.

High-time institutes adopt the latest technology

Technology is changing at a rapid pace and job roles are changing every couple of years. Some of the jobs that were there 10 years ago are dying today. The technology and job roles for which we train our students today, may not be relevant when they graduate and go out to work.
