DGT launches Bharatskills Forum- Digital platform for ITIs’ Trainees, Trainers, and Industrialists

by Team NSN
September 30, 2022
in Government, News

On September 30, 2022, in New Delhi, a new feature called the ‘Bharatskills Forum’ has been launched to the DGT’s (Directorate General of Training) Bharatskills learning platform, which allows interested learners to share books, notes, videos, question bank, and other relevant skill-related content. As it will provide access to handwritten trainers’ or trainees’ notes, PDFs, scanned copies, or recorded videos in any desired language, this facility will serve as a digital warehouse for the skilling community.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the Directorate General of Training (DGT) is the lead agency responsible for delivering vocational training to Indian youth as part of the government’s flagship Skill India Program. By providing easy access to updated curriculum, e-books, Question Banks, mock/practice papers, learning videos, etc., for courses under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS), Craft Instructor Training Scheme (CITS), and the Apprenticeship Training Scheme (ATS), it launched the ‘Bharatskills’ (https://bharatskills.gov.in), a Central Digital Repository for skills, for trainees and trainers of the ITI ecosystem in October 2019.

This platform also provides teachers and students unique access to a centralized, scalable, and robust support environment through its industry partners. They can now learn the new skills required for the Industrial Revolution 4.0 through this ecosystem and adapt to the industry demands.

DGT and NIMI are actively developing the content offered in Bharatskills. The Bharatskills learning platform has grown from roughly 90,000 users in March 2020 to more than 48 lakh unique users and over 1.75 crore hits as of lately.

Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary, MSDE expressed his opinion on the occasion, saying that “The learning platform of BharatSkills has now opened a two-way, unique facility for the trainers, trainees, and those interested in skill training, for sharing relevant content within the skill community. It is possible to state that the Bharatskills Forum was created both by and for the skill community”.
