AkzoNobel partners Sambhav Foundation to support Skill India Mission

AkzoNobel is supporting Skill India mission by providing skill training to underprivileged youth in Vehicle Refinishing and empowering them with livelihood opportunities.

 AkzoNobel, the global paints and coating company, has collaborated with Sambhav Foundation*, a Bangalore based non-profit organization to provide vocational skill training to underprivileged youth in ‘Vehicle Refinish. After course completion the students are placed as “Vehicle Refinish Technician” in the automobile body shops. The project is inspired by Skill India Mission of Government of India.

Akzonobel LabourNet

Through this unique industry vetted two week programme on Vehicle Refinish, AkzoNobel intends to train youth to become proficient in vehicle refinishing which is a much sought after skill in after sales automotive industry. The training provides theoretical understanding and practical skills required in automobile body shops in context to denting and painting work. The training provides outmost importance to safety and ensures all trainees use full safety gear during training. This programs is being conducted at the state-of-the-art AkzoNobel Paint Academy centres in Bangalore, Kolkata, Mohali and Mumbai.

In the past two years AkzoNobel have trained over 850 candidates successfully and placed more than 70% candidates across various leading body shops agencies in Mohali, Kolkata, Bangalore and Mumbai. The project has also helped automobile body shops with skilled manpower enabling them to provide better services to their customers.

“For creating employment, the solution has to be market-driven – and the market will only pay for value delivered.” says Gayathri Vasudevan, CEO-LabourNet, She also says, “Demand for blue-collar workers hugely outweighs supply. Through our skill training programme, over 850 candidates have been trained in the past couple of years and have got employed at the body shops of leading agencies.”
