ASCI ties up with Agriculture, Veterinary & Fisheries Universities across India

Industry integration of training curriculum plays a key role in successful implementation of many skill development schemes and Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) has taken a remarkable lead by partnering with various academic and research institutions in India. ASCI is actively involved in designing and promoting NSQF compliant courses towards developing and upgrading the skills of Indian agriculture and agriculture allied workforce.

In the last few months, ASCI has established collaborative endeavours with stakeholders Agriculture and Veterinary universities and research institutions. ASCI has signed MoU with universities in different state of India in order to align the short term skill training programs of universities with ASCI developed Qualification Packs and National Occupational Standards (QPs and NOS) in line with National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) of Government of India and certification of the candidates. Let’s look at some of the universities that would collaborate with ASCI in accomplishing their skilling agenda.

On 6th December 2016,  a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between ASCI and Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar. The signatories, Dr. Satender Singh Arya, CEO, ASCI and Dr. A K Goel, Director, Human Resource Management, CCSHAU  look forward to mutual collaboration and support in successful implementation of various skill development initiatives in agriculture and allied sectors.

Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar – aims to impart education in agriculture, agricultural engineering, home science and other allied sciences, furthering the advancement of learning and research undertaking the extension of such sciences to the rural people. ASCI, supported by leading industry players in India with an aim to create an ecosystem for quality vocational education in allied sectors. The aim is to meet the entire value chain’s requirements of trained manpower across all levels on a sustained and evolving basis.

The MoU is intended to outline the general framework for collaboration between the parties. Initial goal is to outline and describe certain of the respective goals, strategies and objectives, as the case may be and establish a mutually beneficial relationship. Following are the areas for mutual collaboration and support:

  • Training programs as per National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF)
  • Conduct of assessment and certification
  • Train the trainer with support from universities for technical and infrastructure support in organising the program
  • Skill development center / training institutes – set them up for training and capacity building across various segments in agriculture – farm mechanisation, horticulture, seed, crop production,
  • Manpower and infrastructure required – existing —will be used
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – will be jointly organised to mobilize skilled and semi-skilled farmers and workers which can be assessed and certified by ASCI as per NSQF
  • Development of Occupational Standards, curriculum and learning materials
  • ASCI will develop NOS, QPs, Curriculum and course content for various segments of agriculture. University will support ASCI in development of the same in terms of technical know-how, validations and other as per requirements.
