2019 Year in review: B.Voc Degree Program catches on

With the outcome based Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) courses, Indian education system is moving away from the input based traditional education. B.Voc is a full- fledged degree program approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and recognized by Universities all over India and abroad. The course deals with application-based studies rather than theoretical knowledge completely. Following work-integrated learning model, the courses include hands-on training, and hence B.Voc degree can be regarded as a skill development degree course. As it is becoming a crucial part in the Indian education, many initiatives have been taken to strengthen the program.

Let us look back at some such initiatives that were taken in the year 2019 by the government and various academic institutions. 

How B.Voc is making work-integrated skilling aspirational in the Apparel industry

Being a trendsetter, ATDC has been offering B.Voc degree courses in the Apparel industry, catering to the knowledge and skills of the professionals. Vocational degree: The non-traditional option in Higher Education

Consciously adopted according to industry patterns, the industry integrated programme, Bachelor of Vocational Degree (B.Voc), was designed to equip candidates with requisite skill set and meet the business requirements. Once these needs were met, it became easier for candidates to get absorbed in the industry. Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) launches apprenticeship-based undergraduate degree program

Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) formally launched an apprenticeship-based UG degree programme in the logistic sector . The primary objective of the programme was to create adequate skills for gainful employment at supervisory levels in Logistic industry. NMKRV College for Women, Bengaluru, launches four B.Voc Courses

NMKRV College for Women, Bengaluru had launched the four B.Voc courses to provide job-oriented education and industry-integrated training. The courses are B.Voc in Audio Visual Production and Film Making, B.Voc in Web Design and Mobile Application Development, B.Voc in Banking , Accounts and Finance, B.Voc in Hospital Management. MESC and MHRD announce new job-oriented degree programs in Media and Entertainment sector at Manthan 2019

In the pathbreaking initiative, Manthan, by Media Sector Skill Council and MHRD, MESC announced new job-oriented degree programs under Creative Warriors in Media and Entertainment sector. Creative Warriors is a program to enhance skills through creativity. The degree courses consists of B.Sc. in performing arts, animation and VFX, film making, graphic and web design, and AR and VR.
