10th CII Global Summit on Skill Development and Livelihood – A Report

Valedictory Session

The final session was the valedictory session, with one of the highlights being the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Business Finland and CII to strive towards the development of a specialist and skilled workforce as well as to enable mobility pathways between India and Finland.

10th CII Global Summit A special address by Tuula Haatainen, Hon’ble Minister of Employment, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Government of Finland, highlighted the roadmap for education and developing ways to ease immigration, promote safe and well-functioning migration, and promote language learning, saying, “In today’s world, we all need skill development, we need talents, and we need competent professionals. Our government has increased policy efforts to make Finland more competitive internationally in the eyes of talent. We strive to be an attractive place to learn, work, run a business, and live. The aim is to double the current volume of work-based immigration and to triple the number of new foreign decreased students by 2030.”

The Hon’ble Minister of State, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India, V Muraleedharan, addressed the audience in a video message saying, “The paradigm shift in employment revenues has led to the inevitable need to identify the emerging requirements for new-age skill sets, examine the challenges associated with the workforce globally, and recognise international best practices, policy innovations that ethically support the global mobility of skilled talents. Industry 4.0 and digitization have increased the need to revamp existing skilling ecosystems and increase workforce competency. Furthermore, the country’s ageing population has necessitated skilled workers’ global mobility.” He further added that India has a one-of-a-kind opportunity to become a global talent powerhouse with an immense skilled workforce.

At the end of the event, SK Behra; Co-Chairman, CII National Committee on Skill Development and Livelihood, and Vice Chairman and Managing Director, RSB Transmissions (I) Ltd, thanked all the guests, panelists, and participants who attended the meeting for their active participation in the program.
